6. Naantali region
Eco village,
historic wooden centrum of Naantali and
seaside lunch
This study tour is organized by Leader Varsin Hyvä. Study tour region is located about 65 km southeast of Uusikaupunki. This region is old residential and farming area with rivers, islands, valleys, woods, lakes and the sea. Marine environment, old history and modern architecture are combined with peaceful but active countryside.
First study tour destination is Livonsaari community village. Livonsaari is an eco village aiming to sustainable and more natural
lifestyle, sharing of resources, voluntary work for common good, and active
social life. There are three Leader-funded destinations on Livonsaari. During
this trip we will also visit a non-profit co-operative garden that produces a
wide variety of organic vegetables.
After having lunch in a restaurant by the sea we will be heading to the historical Old Town of Naantali. We will see the summer house of the President of the Republic of Finland and have a guided tour through historical alleys. During the bus trip we will learn about Leader projects concerning local history, food and tourism in Naantali.
